Feb 11, 2012 (E’s - LPS - Temecula)
The Bastardz started out the day winning two very close games beating the Runnin’ Rebels 12-11 and then the Dirt Diggers 17-16. In the first game, a big 7-run fourth inning was sorely needed as the team only had 11-hits total for the game and half the team failed to even register a BA. Lyle, Mike Requilman and Ben H. all went big fly and Tyler went 2-2. The second game was another close battle and a defensive diving stop to his left by Check at SS more than likely saved the game as they squeaked out another 1-run victory 17-16 over Dirt Diggers. Lyle and Ben H. had a perfect game at the plate going 4-4 and 3-3, respectively. In game #3, they gave up a big 11- run inning to Spitfire and were unable to bounce back from the big deficit and ended up losing 25-22. Tyler had a 3-3 game and Ben H. and Mike R. each hit a bomb. Needing to win the next game against Affiliated in order to get the chance to play Spitfire again in the Championship, they again gave up a big inning (10-runs) in a ridiculously cold and windy game and ended the day with a 23-21 defeat. Kingery, Mike and Kyle H. all had a perfect game at the plate and Tyler squeaked out a 1-3 game to finish the day 8-11 and winning the $100 BA pot. Kyle H. took the $60 second place spot. Batting gloves again for alllllllllllll!
Feb 4, 2012 (D’s - WSL - Santee)
It was ugly and not really worth writing about. 0-3 and a .500 team BA is not going to win you many games. At it showed. The only bright spot was a massive 400+ foot 3-run shot by Nick that cleared the 70-foot high net in leftfield on Pureflo and into the YMCA pool. Although, the HR was an out and he got ejected for doing it. LOL! With that DBO, Nick ended the day 7-8 and the top BA. Mags continued his hot-streak from the last tournament and went 5-7 to take 2nd.
Jan 7, 2012 (E’s - WSL - Escondido)
The LB came up short in their first tourney of 2012 finishing fourth overall out of 14-teams. After rolling through Matrix 23-4 in the first game, they got rolled over by Murderer’s Row in their second 37-17. Ouch! A very close third game win against the Bash Bro’s gave the LB a 2-1 record heading into game four. They had their chances but came up 2-runs short with the hammer to end the day 2-2. Batting gloves, hats or a t-shirt for all!!!!!
MVP went to Andrew (sick pick up) who only recorded one out the entire day. He finished 12-13 (.923) to take home the coveted batting title and $100 cash. Second place money ($60) was shared by Jordan and Lyle with identical 11-16 (.687) nights. |
